North Shore Architectural Antiques specializes in regional historic building elements from the 1850’s to the 1950’s. Our region at the western end of Lake Superior, centered around Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin was primarily developed during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and the architecture reflects the strong Victorian, Art & Crafts, and early Art Deco styles.

We decided early on to try and use simple ingredients that we could pronounce and, preferably, ingredients with names involving no more than three syllables. From the beginning our goal has been to make stuff from scratch with real ingredients. We use butter and sugar and flour and eggs rather than the scoop and bake stuff filled with multi-syllabic ingredients.

Fitger’s Brewhouse opened in 1995, after its founders took a western-states ski trip and came back inspired by that region’s brewing scene. Combining the relaxed ambience of a high mountain brewery with uncompromising dedication to quality, Fitger’s Brewhouse established a tradition of handcrafted beer, fantastic food and excellent entertainment on Lake Superior’s north shore.

The Original Saloon & Grill opened on the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, MN, in 1976. It's a family owned restaurant for four generations. Serves good food and drinks. Has had good quality service for almost a hundred years. Locals love it, the bar kind of has a "Cheers" type atmosphere. The price of food can vary from $6 to $30, depending on what you get. The atmosphere is really neat, the bar really hasn't changed since 1914, they have old artifacts from the past 100 years. It's really interesting. Check it out. I'm not exactly sure on the opening date, but I know the year was 1914.

Our stunning 18-hole Donald Ross-designed golf course—with famously challenging greens—is recognized as one of the top 5 in Minnesota and one of the top 100 Classic Golf Courses in the entire United States. The course features 6,825 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The wooded, gently rolling course, with amazing views of Lake Superior, is tough enough for low handicappers, yet is still eminently enjoyable for higher handicappers. The fairways are tree lined and bordered by a standard cut of rough. The fast greens vary in size, shape and undulation, and their speeds are determined by the seasonal weather conditions. Water hazards come into play often as features of at least seven holes.

The golf course is a very well maintained, regulation par 36 that measures 3,173 from the back tees. Surrounded by heavily forested hills, and laid out across the east branch of the Beaver River, the golf course offers both natural beauty as well as a fair challenge to the golfers that visit.

A national treasure for American golfers, Superior National at Lutsen captures the best aspects of the game through 27 of the most beautiful holes of golf overlooking Lake Superior. Tucked away in the northeast corner of Minnesota in the heart of some of the country's best outdoor recreational destinations, it is a course you have got to play. Don't be surprised to see Whitetail Deer, Fox, Timber Wolves or an occasional Moose during your round of golf.

Amnicon Falls State Park features a series of delightful waterfalls and rapids along the Amnicon River. You can view them from a covered foot bridge or trails along the river, or—if you're sure-footed—from the rocky shore of the river. The park is a place to picnic, camp, walk in the woods, and learn about the Douglas Fault, the geological formation that created the falls.

Gooseberry Falls State Park is one of the most popular state parks in Minnesota. Located on the beautiful north shore of Lake Superior, the park's close proximity to Duluth makes it perfect for a day trip and a must-stop during your travels along Highway 61. Most famous for its easy-access waterfalls - a short paved walkway brings you right to the Lower and Middle Falls - the park is a hub of activity in the summer. Explore the river, Lake Superior shoreline, historic stone structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Hike riverside trails and woodland loops. Birdwatch. Visit the visitor center. Attend a naturalist program. Camp. Take photos. Picnic.

The mission of the Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory is to protect birds of prey and other migratory birds in the Western Lake Superior Region through research, education, and stewardship. The Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve, located in Duluth, Minnesota, provides some of North America's best autumn hawk watching. Now is the time to visit! Naturalist staff & volunteers are on site daily from 9am-4pm from September 1 – October 31.

Totaling four miles out and back this trail is somewhat of a challenge as about half of it is through the sand at the water's edge. The trail features a variety of plants and trees, some interesting views of the harbor, the remnants of old growth forest and settlers cabins and the site of the original lighthouse at the Superior entry. There is also a white tailed deer herd and it is an unparalleled location for watching nesting shore birds, water fowl and migratory song birds.

Come to Tettegouche for a great sense of the North Shore: the spectacular overlooks at Shovel Point; rocky, steep cliffs and inland bluffs; the cascading 60 ft. High Falls of the Baptism River; and the historic Tettegouche Camp where visitors can stay the night. This is a hiker's paradise with miles of trails that overlook the Sawtooth Mountains and wind down to inland lakes accessible only by foot.

Trails take you through wooded areas and along the river. Great scenic views along these trails.
